You’re probably wondering, where on earth did ‘wevu’ came from? Well, good question. While we don’t want to bore you with the months of brand‑naming exercises, what we can tell you is how wevu came about…

we

‘we’ stands for the ‘we’ in what we do. The sharing of experience, the gathering of friends, families, coworkers, loved ones, your children, your pets, whoever it may be. All in one place together, watching a great movie. ‘We’ is at the heart of our brand and we (pardon the pun) knew that this was something that must be incorporated.

‘vu’ stems from the viewing experience of our incredible movies. Fundamentally, wevu is all about the hottest films and having access to incredible studio content. Viewing a movie in the comfort of your home, just weeks after it has hit cinemas. Viewing it on your favourite devices. Viewing it as many times as you want for one single cost, viewing it on-the-go wherever you are and viewing it with the people you love most. An exceptional viewing experience is at the heart of our brand and so we’ve ensured it’s a key part of our brand name.

This is how the ‘wevu’ brand name was born, a brand name that we love and we hope you fall in love with it too.

That’s the story behind our name but what about our logo?

From the start, we knew we needed a logo that was:

But now for the exciting part, we’re going to take you behind the scenes to really understand what the wevu logo means and how it came about.

Since the early days of cinema, movies have been about delivering stories and information through sound and light…just like Morse code.

We decided to make the “w” of wevu the hero letter for our brand and experiment with this letter in morse code.

But, we knew this didn’t give us the firework moment we were hoping for. We needed the logo to capture our quirkiness and creativity. After numerous attempts, lots of playing around and pen-to-paper moments, we finally had our lightbulb moment.

We decided to flip the (dot, dash, dash) vertically to form a stacked shape of 3 pillars. With a bit of re shaping and configuring (and a touch of imagination), this formed what we think is the best place to enjoy a movie – a comfy chair or sofa. This was the perfect symbol for the wevu experience.

And there you have it… our brand, wevu. Want to know the best bit about all of this? This is just the beginning. We have lots more exciting things coming which we can’t wait to share with you.
